i’m learning lego engineering as a 29 yr old to make younger me happy 👷🏻‍♀️

as a young girl I used to love to tinker. I would get frustrated with barbies and loved reaching for cars, train sets and electronic toys. However, when I went to college I was afraid to lose my scholarship and picked an ‘easy major’. I was too shy to take any engineering or computer science courses.

after graduating, I went into health tech as a regulatory consultant. On the side, I loved hearing colleagues talk about health robotics and attended webinars about medical device wearables but still couldn’t contribute.

eventually, I got burned out working in tech consulting after needing to do physical therapy for my hip and stretches for carpal tunnel in my hands.

now, I’m taking a break from work and I’m giving myself space to learn engineering in the gentlest way - comes in Lego. I’m using lego engineering as a portal to mechanical engineering, electronics, architecture and product design.

My goal is to build a lot of existing lego sets and read lots of lego books to learn how to design my own lego sets. I want to design my own cars, planes, cities, gardens, robots and more 💛
