Busca el reino

The phrase "Busca el reino de Dios" (Seek the kingdom of God) is more than just a religious saying; it's a profound invitation to re-evaluate our priorities and where we place our ultimate trust. When I hear about a "man kneeling before God," it conjures an image of deep humility, surrender, and profound devotion—a recognition that there's a higher authority and purpose than our own fleeting desires or the transient opinions of others. For me, genuinely seeking God's kingdom means aligning my life, my decisions, and my aspirations with His divine will and values. It's about understanding that "El sigue siendo el mismo El todo poderoso" (He is still the same, the Almighty). This truth brings immense comfort and stability in a world that constantly shifts. Knowing that God is unchanging and all-powerful provides a solid foundation for where to direct our focus and energy. But this pursuit often comes with a challenge, one beautifully articulated in Galatians 1:10, which the OCR picked up: "Pues, ¿busco ahora el favor de los hombres, o el de Dios? ¿O trato de agradar a los hombres? Pues si todavía agradara a los hombres, no sería siervo de Cristo." (For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.) This verse hits home for me. In our daily lives, we're constantly bombarded with expectations from colleagues, friends, family, and even social media. It's easy to get caught in the trap of trying to gain human approval, sometimes at the expense of what we know is right or what truly honors God. Learning to prioritize God's favor over man's is a continuous journey. It requires courage, discernment, and a deep-seated conviction. It means asking myself: Am I making this choice because it genuinely aligns with God's kingdom principles, or because I fear what others might think or say? It's about understanding that true freedom comes from being a "siervo de Cristo" (bondservant of Christ), not a slave to popular opinion. So, practically, how do I go about this? I've found that it involves: Daily reflection and prayer: Taking time each day to connect with God and ask for guidance helps clarify my intentions. Studying His word: The Bible provides the blueprint for His kingdom and helps me discern His will. Serving others: Actively looking for ways to serve my community and those around me, reflecting God's love and compassion. Making conscious choices: Whether it's in my career, my relationships, or my personal habits, I try to ask: Does this seek God's kingdom first? It's not always easy, and I certainly don't get it right every time. But the peace and purpose that come from striving to "Busca el reino de Dios"—to put Him first, to humble myself before Him, and to seek His favor above all others—are truly incomparable. It's a journey worth taking, leading to a life of deeper meaning and genuine fulfillment, free from the constant pressure of living up to human expectations.
