... Read moreI remember when I first loaded up Marvel Rivals, I was jumping between characters, trying to find that one hero (or duo!) that just clicked. Iron Man felt good, and Rocket Raccoon was a blast, but nothing truly resonated until I decided to give Cloak & Dagger a try. And wow, did my game change! They've quickly become my absolute main, and I honestly think they're one of the most underrated duos in the entire roster. If you're looking for a character that offers incredible utility, surprising damage, and a truly unique playstyle, you've got to consider them.
What really drew me in was their incredible synergy. It's not just two characters fighting side-by-side; it feels like one cohesive unit. Cloak's ability to manipulate space with his Darkforce Dimension is a game-changer. I love using his teleport to get behind enemy lines, snatching up key targets, or creating quick escapes when things get too heated. He's fantastic for setting up plays, pulling enemies into Dagger's line of fire, or simply providing cover. On the other hand, Dagger is my primary damage dealer and healer. Her light daggers are surprisingly potent, and I've often caught opponents off guard with her sustained ranged pressure. Plus, her healing ability is crucial for keeping our team in the fight, especially when we're pushing an objective. The way they can combine their powers for their ultimate is just chef's kiss – a massive area-of-effect attack that can swing entire team fights in our favor.
Here are a few personal tips I’ve picked up while mastering Cloak & Dagger:
Firstly, positioning is everything. As Cloak, you're often the initiator or the escape artist. Use his mobility to scout ahead, flank, or quickly reposition Dagger to a safer vantage point. Dagger should be played more like a sharpshooter, always looking for clear lines of sight to maximize her dagger throws and healing beams. Don't be afraid to separate slightly to cover different angles, but always be ready to converge for their combined abilities.
Secondly, master their resource management. Both Cloak and Dagger have distinct cooldowns and energy pools. Knowing when to commit to a big Darkforce blast or when to save Dagger's healing for an incoming push can make all the difference. I've found that effective communication with your team is vital too. Let them know when your ultimate is ready or if you need to fall back to heal.
Thirdly, don't underestimate their damage potential. While they offer great support and utility, a well-coordinated Cloak & Dagger can melt squishy targets surprisingly fast. I often use Cloak's ability to disorient or slow an enemy, allowing Dagger to land a flurry of precise attacks. Just last match, I managed to shut down an over-extending Iron Man by pulling him into a Darkforce vortex, letting Dagger finish him with a rapid fire of light daggers before he could even react. It was incredibly satisfying!
Finally, experiment with team comps. Cloak & Dagger really shine with characters who can capitalize on their crowd control or benefit from their healing. Tanks like Hulk or Thing who can dive in while Dagger provides support from the backline are fantastic. Speedsters or other flankers can also benefit from Cloak's portals for quick rotations.
If you haven't given Cloak & Dagger a shot yet in Marvel Rivals, you're seriously missing out on a dynamic, rewarding, and incredibly fun duo. They offer a high skill ceiling but provide immense satisfaction once you start getting the hang of their unique rhythm. Trust me, they're worth the investment! Who knows, they might just become your new main too.
