Post Op Massage Wasn’t Bad
Okay, so like I mentioned, my first post-op massage after my BBL in Las Vegas wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. I went in expecting tears, but my pain level was genuinely only a 4! I know so many of us worry about this part of recovery, and I wanted to share a bit more about what I learned and what helped me get through it, especially addressing common concerns about bbl post op care massages. Before my surgery, I heard all about lymphatic drainage massage after bbl, but I didn't fully grasp why they were so important until I started my recovery. Basically, after a BBL or any liposuction, your body experiences trauma, and fluid can build up. This is where swelling comes from! Lymphatic drainage massages are super gentle, light, rhythmic strokes that encourage your lymphatic system to drain this excess fluid, reduce swelling, and prevent fibrosis (hardening of the tissue). It really helps shape the results of your BBL and makes the healing process smoother. It’s absolutely crucial to your overall bbl post op care. For my first massage, my therapist was amazing. She explained everything she was doing, which really put me at ease. They usually start very gently, focusing on the areas where you had liposuction and fat transfer. It's not too bad because it's not a deep tissue massage; it's designed to be gentle and focus on the superficial lymphatic vessels. You might feel a light pressure and a 'whooshing' sensation as the fluid moves. Some areas might be more sensitive than others, especially around the incision sites or where the fat was removed. Don't be afraid to communicate your pain level! Since mine was a 4, we could work a bit more on certain areas, but a good therapist will always check in with you. I learned a few things that made a huge difference for my post op massage. First, make sure you're well-hydrated before and after your session; it helps with fluid movement. Second, wear loose, comfortable clothing – you'll likely be a bit tender afterward. Third, and this is super important, find a therapist who specializes in post-surgical lymphatic drainage. This isn't just any regular massage; it requires specific training and understanding of the lymphatic system post-surgery. My therapist in Las Vegas was incredible, and I felt so much better after each session, noticing a significant reduction in swelling and discomfort. How many sessions do you need? This is a big question! My surgeon recommended a series of sessions, usually starting within a few days post-op. The number varies greatly depending on your body's healing process and the extent of your surgery. I'm planning for at least 10-12 sessions, but some people might need more or less. It's definitely an investment in your recovery and getting those optimal results. If you're dreading your post-op lymphatic massage, please know that it can be a manageable and even beneficial part of your journey. While everyone's pain tolerance is different, my experience of pain level was like a 4 really surprised me positively. It's a crucial step for reducing swelling, promoting healing, and getting those smooth, beautiful results. Trust the process, communicate openly with your therapist, and remember, you're doing great on your recovery journey!
