SPF mistakes to avoid this summer
SPF is the single most evidence-based thing you can do for your skin — and yet it’s the step most people are getting wrong. As a derm PA, I see these five mistakes constantly.
The basics: SPF 30 minimum (it blocks 97% of UV rays), a full ¼ tsp on your face, reapplication every 2 hours, and yes — even on cloudy days. UV rays don’t take days off, and neither should your sunscreen.
Don’t forget your scalp, ears, and neck. These are among the highest-risk areas for skin cancer and the most skipped spots in any routine.
Sun protection isn’t just an aesthetic thing. It’s a health thing. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the US — and it’s largely preventable.
Save this, share it with someone you love, and drop your SPF questions below. I read and respond to every comment. 🤍
