✨ The Quiet Wife: A Review ✨

⭐️ Rating: 4/5 (4.5 on places that allow 1/2 stars like fable)

I went into this book blind. No one recommended it. It just sounded interesting. When I finished I was reading reviews and everyone said how much the book ending wasn’t believable. But… I’m not reading fiction books to read believable stories.

Now; this book had some jaw-drop moments for me. I was hooked & had to know how it panned out. It took me less than a day to finish. I could not stop listening.

The last handful of chapters are so fast paced & jaw dropping that it made the entire book. I couldn’t pin down ‘who did it’ though I did have some suspicions (and some were correct!) - the ending totally blew my mind.

The last chapter is probably the most “unbelievable” part, but only slightly. All I know is vengeance, is best served cold.

... Read moreAfter diving headfirst into The Quiet Wife by JM Cannon, I'm still buzzing from the experience! As a massive fan of psychological thrillers, this book delivered on every front. What draws me to this genre is often the intricate dance between characters, the simmering tension of secrets, and the way authors like Cannon weave a web of lies & deception that keeps you utterly captivated. The husband & wife dynamic here is just chef's kiss for anyone who loves domestic suspense – it’s never what it seems! I know many of you might be tempted to search for The Quiet Wife JM Cannon spoilers, and believe me, I've been there with other books! But if there's one piece of advice I can give, it's to go into this one as blind as possible. The sheer impact of those jaw-drop moments and the totally mind-blowing ending is something you truly need to experience for yourself. That feeling of guessing, suspecting, and then having everything flipped on its head is what makes this book a four-star read for me. Trust me, the payoff is worth avoiding those spoilers! If The Quiet Wife has left you craving more, and you're looking to expand your psychological thriller bookshelf, I have a few suggestions that tap into similar vibes. If you enjoyed the domestic mystery and the unreliable narrative, definitely check out "The Guest List" by Lucy Fokley or "The Woman in Cabin 10" by Ruth Ware. For another intense exploration of a marriage gone wrong and deep secrets, "Verity" by Colleen Hoover is a dark and twisty ride that will leave you stunned. And if you're looking for another "wife" themed thriller – perhaps something that challenges the perception of sanity and domestic bliss, similar to the underlying themes in The Quiet Wife – books like "My Lovely Wife" by Samantha Downing might just be your next obsession. These reads often explore the darker psychological aspects of relationships, making you question everything you thought you knew about the characters. For my fellow audiobook lovers, listening to The Quiet Wife on Hoopla was an absolute game-changer. The pacing of the narration really amplified the suspense and made those twists even more effective. It's one of those books that you can easily get lost in while doing chores or on a long commute. The story truly jumps off the page (or out of your headphones!) and stays with you, prompting endless post-read discussions (spoiler-free, of course!). If you're pondering your next thriller, give The Quiet Wife a listen – you won't regret it!
