... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to share a bit more about why the Cape May County Park & Zoo is one of my absolute favorite spots, especially if you're looking for an amazing, budget-friendly day out in New Jersey. I know the initial post was short, but trust me, there's so much more to love and experience here that makes it truly stand out. First off, the fact that admission is completely FREE is incredible! In today's world, it's rare to find such a well-maintained and diverse zoo that doesn't charge an entry fee. They do accept donations, and I always encourage everyone who visits to contribute if they can. Those donations directly support the care of the animals and the upkeep of the park, which is something I truly appreciate. It feels good to know you're helping out. What really blew me away on my last visit was the sheer variety of animals. Beyond the exciting news about the baby kangaroos – which, fingers crossed, you might be lucky enough to spot being carried in their mothers' pouches – there's a world of wildlife to explore. I absolutely loved seeing the majestic giraffes gracefully walking in their spacious enclosure, and the bison looked so grand. For something a little more exotic, keep an eye out for the vibrant green snake, its colors are just mesmerizing! And don't miss the playful primates like the chimpanzee, always up to something interesting. The gentle giants like the capybara are surprisingly endearing, just lounging around, and even the sleepy pink pig looked so content. It’s like a mini-safari right here in Cape May! To make your visit even better, here are a few tips I've picked up: Parking: Arrive early, especially on weekends or holidays, as the free parking lots can fill up quickly. Best Time to Visit: Mornings are usually best. The animals are often more active, and the crowds are smaller. Plus, it's cooler in the summer months. Bring Snacks: While they do have concessions, bringing your own snacks and drinks can save you some money, especially with kids. There are plenty of picnic tables available. Wear Comfy Shoes: You'll be doing a lot of walking, so comfortable footwear is a must. The zoo is quite expansive! Check for Events: Sometimes they have special keeper talks or feeding times. Check their website before you go to catch these unique experiences. It's not just a place to see animals; it's a beautiful park for a leisurely stroll, offering a wonderful escape from the everyday. Whether you're a local or just visiting the Cape May area, this zoo is a gem. It offers hours of entertainment and education for all ages. I honestly can't recommend the Cape May County Park & Zoo enough. It’s truly a standout destination for anyone who loves nature and wildlife!
