Ramadan Day 7 ✨🌙Pistachio Baklawa
This baklawa is made with layers of flaky phyllo dough and generously filled with ground pistachios. The combination creates a rich, nutty flavor that pairs beautifully with the sweetness of my homemade simple syrup. It's truly a heavenly experience! Preparing these baklawa is simple and rewarding. Just layer the phyllo sheets, sprinkle in the pistachios, and bake until golden brown. Once it’s out of the oven, drench it in syrup. —Ingredients—
2 boxes phyllo dough (divide into three)
4 cups raw unsalted pistachios (ground)
4 sticks unsalted butter
3-4 cups simple syrup (find the recipe on my page)
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Grind the pistachios in a food processor until very finely chopped.
3. Melt the butter either in a pot on the stove or in a bowl in the microwave, what ever works for you.
4. Unroll two sleeves of phyllo sheets (I used 2 boxes which equaled to 44-45 sheets) divided those into three.
5. Butter the bottom of the pan, or the tray you’re going to use. Lay 14-15 sheets of phyllo in the bottom. Brush the top sheet with butter, Spread half of the pistachios over the phyllo in one even layer.
6. Repeat with the second layer of phyllo sheets (14-15 sheets) followed by the butter and pistachios and top the pistachios with the last layer of phyllo sheets (14-15 sheets).
7. Pour the rest of the melted butter over the baklawa, tilt the pan carefully to spread the butter all over. Use a sharp knife to make straight cuts across the entire surface of the baklawa in both directions, creating a grid of even squares.
8. Bake until golden brown for about 40-50 minutes, rotating the tray halfway through.
9. When the baklawa is done Baking, remove the pan from the oven and immediately pour the cooled simple syrup evenly over the baklawa. Allow to cool at room temperature for at least 4 hours, garnish with more pistachios before serving and enjoy.
