Hey yall so I feel like a common feeling as a person in their 20s is lacking direction… at least for me it is hahaha. But essentially, having no idea where to go yet or where life is taking you. The key catalyst here is: change. The 20’s is a prime area for change in life, good or bad and it inevitably affects our perception of our lives. Many of us are shifting from student to employee, dependent to independent, and young adult to fully-grown.
I personally have no idea where I’m heading right now. Just graduated with my masters and I’m not having much luck with jobs in the field. Honestly, it’s making me second guess everything I’ve done and if I’m really cut out for this ahahah. That leads me to the idea of imposter syndrome which is essentially where you doubt yourself and your skills due to the circumstances.
I just want to let everyone know that’s feeling this that it is normal and we can get through this together! Patience and realization of change have been key and are helping me work through this period even though it’s still really hard, along with support from those close to me. So, I wanted to make this a safe place for people facing the same problems.
Let’s chat in the comments about these ideas. Anyone else dealing with this in life rn?
Entering your 20s often brings a whirlwind of changes, leading to feelings of confusion and doubt. Transitioning from student life to the professional world can heighten anxiety, with many grappling with imposter syndrome, a sense of inadequacy despite accomplishments. It's crucial to acknowledge that these feelings are common. Many young adults share similar experiences and uncertainties, particularly during major life changes such as starting a career or settling into adulthood. Self-doubt might stem from the pressures of societal expectations, where success is often narrowly defined. Building a support network is essential. Engaging with peers who understand your struggles can provide immense relief and perspective. It’s beneficial to participate in discussions about mental health and personal challenges. Online communities, like those found on social media platforms, can serve as a safe space for sharing experiences and insights. Practicing self-compassion is equally important. It's okay to take time to find your path; progress is not always linear. Setting small, achievable goals can help create a sense of purpose and direction while mitigating feelings of overwhelm. Additionally, seeking professional guidance from career coaches or therapists can offer valuable resources and coping strategies to navigate this tumultuous period. Remember, the journey is unique to each individual. Embrace the idea that it's perfectly normal to feel lost at times, and trust that, with patience and support, clarity will emerge.

I def get wym, this phase feels very awkward and it’s good to see that I’m not alone in this. What are some ways that you regulate your feelings and get back on track?
