I recorded this ,this morning. I’m now currently about to walk into my appointment so here is hopefully the first to more self care days for mama🩷
As a mom, I have often struggled with the feeling of guilt when taking time for myself, especially on days dedicated to self-care. That guilt can be persistent, making it hard to fully enjoy moments meant to recharge and restore. However, I’ve come to realize that taking care of myself isn’t selfish; it’s essential for my wellbeing and my family's happiness. One helpful approach has been scheduling self-care appointments, just like any other important commitment. Whether it’s a quiet morning walk, a meditation session, or a visit to a wellness professional, these moments offer a necessary pause from daily responsibilities. The key is to remind myself that recharging helps me be a better mom, friend, and person overall. I’ve also found power in sharing my experience with other moms who understand this unique conflict between duty and self-love. Hearing their stories and advice has been reassuring and motivating. Online communities and support groups can be great spaces for exchanging tips and encouragement on dealing with mom guilt. Most importantly, I focus on redefining what guilt means to me. Instead of letting it dictate my choices, I use it as a reminder to balance care for my loved ones with care for myself. This mindset shift has made my self-care days more joyful and guilt-free. If you’re feeling this way too, know that it’s a common experience and completely valid. Taking that first step toward regular self-care can be transformative. It’s a journey worth starting, with kindness to yourself as the guiding principle.
