Becoming a mum is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.
But I’d be lying if I said accepting my postpartum body has been easy.
My skin is looser. My body is softer. I don’t always recognise the person looking back at me.
Does that mean I’m not grateful? Not even close.
It just means I’m human.
I think we need to stop acting like mums have to choose between loving what their body did and struggling with how it’s changed.
We can feel both.
Every stretch mark, every scar and every bit of loose skin tells the story of growing a tiny human… but that doesn’t mean accepting those changes happens overnight.
So if you’re on that journey too, I see you. We’re figuring it out together. ❤️
From my own experience, the journey to loving my postpartum body has been full of ups and downs. While I cherish the miracle of bringing life into this world, reconnecting with my physical self took time. One thing that helped me was allowing myself to feel both gratitude and frustration simultaneously. It’s okay to celebrate what our bodies achieved and still struggle with the visible changes like stretch marks and softness. I found that gently caring for my skin — moisturizing regularly and wearing clothes that make me feel comfortable — supported me in feeling more connected. Also, joining supportive communities where other mums openly share their stories made me realize I wasn’t alone in this experience. It’s a shared journey where we learn to embrace every stretch mark and scar as a symbol of our strength. Remember, loving your postpartum body doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a gradual process of acceptance and kindness toward yourself. If you’re on this path too, give yourself permission to feel all the emotions and know that your experience is valid. Together, we can redefine what beauty means after motherhood and support each other in feeling proud of the incredible journey our bodies have undertaken.

Never is until you think that you are the same size again but just shaped differently
