Hey everyone! Since I'm new here, I thought I'd share a little more about my cosplay journey and maybe some insights for those curious about the hobby! I'm Embee, and really, cosplay isn't just about crafting costumes; it's about bringing beloved characters to life and sharing that passion with others. One question I get asked a lot is, "How do you pick your characters?" For me, it's a mix of loving a design, connecting with a character's personality, and sometimes, just wanting to challenge myself with a new build. For instance, my Amber from Genshin Impact cosplay was so much fun because her bubbly personality really resonated with me, and her intricate details were a great challenge. When I decided to cosplay a Valorant character, like Killjoy, it was all about capturing that cool, tactical vibe. It's truly rewarding to see these characters come alive! I'm always looking for new inspiration, whether it's scrolling through art, playing new games, or even just seeing what other amazing cosplayers are creating. You know how sometimes you see a character and instantly think, "I have to cosplay them"? That's exactly how I felt about Kafka from Honkai Star Rail – I'm so excited to start working on her next! Beyond making the costumes, I also love the photography aspect. Capturing the essence of a character through a lens is a whole different art form. Finding the right lighting, background, and pose can completely transform a cosplay. For those of you wondering about pose ideas, I always recommend looking at official art, in-game animations, or even fan art for inspiration. Think about the character's signature moves or expressions. For dynamic shots, try interacting with props or using your environment, like I did for my Katsucon shoots. Cosplay conventions like Katsucon are truly magical. It's where all the hard work pays off, and you get to meet so many incredible people who share your passion. It's a fantastic place to get ideas, connect with other creators, and just enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
