paying $100 for halloween candy?

Genuinely wondering how many people are buying this shrinkflated candy these days? The prices of candy bags are insane now, and the bars? So tiny you barely taste them. We barely buy candy for ourselves anymore because of it.

I love giving to trick or treaters, don’t get me wrong but is it even worth it now? Every year it gets pricier. Back in the day, we’d grab 3 or 4 big bags, and that’d cover the night. Now? We’d drop $100 easy just to have enough. Those same bags at Costco are like $20 each now.

What a joke... Are y’all still splurging on it?

... Read moreHalloween candy prices have surged significantly in recent years, with many households noticing the impact on their budgets during the spooky season. This phenomenon, often dubbed 'shrinkflation,' refers to candy bars and bags becoming smaller in size while prices continue to rise. For instance, candy bags from popular retailers like Costco can now cost around $20 each, making the typical purchase for trick-or-treaters easily exceed $100. Many parents and candy givers reminisce about the past when three or four large bags of candy could satisfy an entire evening’s worth of trick-or-treaters without breaking the bank. The recent price hikes have made some hesitant to buy candy for themselves or others. This creates a dilemma between wanting to keep Halloween festive and family-friendly and managing practical spending. If you're wondering whether to splurge or save this year, consider a few strategies. Buying candy in bulk during sales earlier in the season or opting for alternatives like non-candy treats can help lower costs. Another popular method is to purchase classic favorites that children love but at smaller quantities, avoiding the need to buy multiple expensive bags. Additionally, participating in community events such as 'trunk or treat' or neighborhood parties might reduce the volume of candy needed. These approaches respect both your budget and the tradition of generosity during Halloween. Ultimately, while candy prices have increased, many still choose to give generously to keep the spirit of Halloween alive. It’s a balance between cost and tradition, and sharing candy remains a heartfelt gesture to bring joy to children during this festive season.

There are plenty of places to get affordable Halloween candy from. I bought two big bags for $20 total and when I’m out, I’m out.
