Black Cake.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Black Cake started out really good to me. It’s a recording Eleanor Bennett left for her adults children and lawyer to all listen to together. It’s about her pass. We get a little of Byron, Benny and Covey’s story toss in the middle of them. It’s almost like a checklist of timelines you have to keep track of and the mix of other characters tossed in the mix! Its all became to much for me that I had put the book aside and come back to it. This was a strong 2.5 stars for me. I did rate it a 3 but one of my favorite quote from the book.
They don’t tell you how to live with this kind of anger, this prickly feeling under your skin. That’s the thing about false narratives that ultimately define your life. When you finally learn that you’ve been lied to for years by the people you’ve trusted the most, even when you can see why they might have done it. That awareness contaminantes every other relationship you have.”
