Welcome back to snack attack time with me #wieiad #vsg #vsgjourney
Having been 2.5 years post VSG surgery, I’ve learned that managing protein intake is vital for maintaining muscle and energy. I often struggle to find protein-rich snacks that are both palatable and gentle on my stomach. Most protein shakes tend to upset my stoma, which led me to explore alternatives like Aldi's premier protein shakes and making mindful snack choices such as pretzel hummus. These satisfy my cravings without overwhelming my digestion. One challenge I face occasionally is feeling extra snacky, which I manage by keeping small, nutritious portions handy, such as spicy steak asiago sandwiches and controlled quantities of chips. Even though chips aren’t ideal, allowing myself a controlled portion helps me avoid binge eating while still enjoying comfort foods. I’ve also experimented with different cuisines, including Asian-inspired drinks and meals, which I enjoy, although some items like drinks containing seeds can unexpectedly cause discomfort due to seed expansion in the digestive tract. Paying attention to these reactions is key for adjusting what I include in my daily diet. Ending the day with a taco bowl is a favorite, but portion control matters—the right balance helps me stay nourished without feeling overly full. Overall, the key takeaway from my journey is focusing on protein-forward snacks that nourish and satisfy without compromising comfort. Sharing my snack attack journey has helped me stay accountable and inspired others managing similar VSG experiences to explore their own balanced snack options.
