What I get done at the salon
I usually get my hair done every 2 to 3 months, which keeps it healthy, but still as blonde as I like it. Today we moved up my shadow root, with foils and toned my hair. I find having a shadow root makes my hair grow out more naturally, and keeps the roots super healthy. I usually get a trim every other time I go, so this time we dusted the edges and I opted for a curled hairstyle.

My salon routine keeps my blonde hair looking fresh for months, but what happens between appointments is just as crucial! I've learned so much about extending that salon-fresh feeling, and it makes a huge difference in the overall health and appearance of my hair. The shadow root technique, which my stylist expertly moves up, isn't just about making grow-out seamless; it's a blessing for hair health! By not applying bleach directly to my scalp every single time, it significantly reduces damage and allows my natural root to blend softly and beautifully. It gives that lived-in, effortless blonde look that's so popular right now, while also being super low-maintenance. This is truly key for keeping your hair strong and preventing breakage, especially with repeated blonde services, ensuring your hair stays healthy long-term. And let's talk about toning! It's truly the magic step to achieve that perfect blonde hue after my foils. Toning neutralizes any unwanted yellow or brassy tones, leaving me with a cool, creamy, or icy blonde, depending on what we decide for the season. It doesn't lighten your hair further, but rather refines the color, giving it that salon-perfect finish. If you're ever wondering why your blonde sometimes looks 'off' after a highlight, it might be that the toner wasn't quite right for your desired shade or has faded over time. Don't be afraid to chat with your stylist about the exact tone you're hoping for – communication is everything when you GET MY HAIR DONE WITH ME! Between my salon visits, maintaining my blonde at home is non-negotiable. I swear by a good purple shampoo once a week to keep brassiness at bay, always followed by a deeply hydrating mask to replenish moisture. Heat protectant is a must every single time I use styling tools – those curling irons and straighteners can quickly strip your color and dry out your strands, leading to dullness and breakage. I also try to use silk pillowcases to minimize friction and breakage while I sleep. Remember, healthy hair holds color better and longer! You might hear stylists talk about a 'dusting' instead of a full trim, and it's exactly what it sounds like – just taking off the absolute bare minimum from the ends. This method precisely removes those pesky split ends that can travel up the hair shaft and cause more damage, all without sacrificing any precious length. It’s perfect for keeping your hair looking neat and healthy, especially when you're growing it out or just want to maintain your current length. Getting a dusting every other visit, as I do, ensures my ends stay fresh and my hair always looks styled, even on a casual day. It's a subtle but significant part of my 'Trim and style' routine. To really make the most of your salon appointment, come prepared! Bring inspiration photos of the blonde tones and styles you love. Be open and honest with your stylist about your hair history and what you're hoping to achieve. And don't forget to ask them for their personalized product recommendations for at-home care. They know your hair best! It's not just about 'GET MY HAIR DONE WITH ME'; it's about getting the best hair done for you and understanding how to maintain that beautiful result.
