i never thought i’d be in this position but i’m reaching out because i really need help. i’m behind on august rent and still need to cover september to avoid eviction. our only car was repossessed — it was also our only way to earn money through doordash after i lost my job. we’ve sold most of what we own just trying to stay afloat.
i’ve already called 211, local agencies, and charities, but with recent funding cuts there’s no rental assistance unless you have kids. i do have a job lined up soon, so this help wouldn’t be forever — it would just give us the chance to keep a roof over our heads, get our car back, and be able to work again.
i know times are hard for everyone, and i’m honestly embarrassed to even ask. i can provide receipts and proof of everything if needed. thank you for taking the time to read this. if you have the means to donate, even a single dollar, it would mean the most to me and my fur babies.

In Gahanna, OH, eviction notices such as the one described—showing a balance of $1,519.36 and the requirement for certified payment within a few days—highlight how quickly circumstances can escalate without immediate assistance.
Many individuals experiencing housing insecurity have turned to various support systems including local charities, government programs like 211, and online fundraising platforms to avoid losing their homes. However, recent funding cuts have tightened eligibility, often prioritizing families with children, leaving others in dire need without enough help.
Securing short-term financial aid can be a critical lifeline. It allows individuals to catch up on overdue rent, regain control of essential assets like vehicles, and maintain income sources such as rideshare or delivery jobs. This support period also provides the time needed to transition to new employment and build long-term stability.
When seeking or offering help, transparency is key. Providing documentation like receipts and official notices builds trust and reassures potential donors of the legitimacy of requests. Sharing personal stories, as done here, also fosters empathy and community support.
For those in similar situations, it’s important to act quickly: communicate with landlords, seek legal assistance as recommended in eviction notices, and explore all aid avenues early. Connecting with community resources, local nonprofit organizations, and government emergency rental assistance programs can uncover potential help despite funding challenges.
Remember, no one should endure housing instability alone. Engaging communities and raising awareness through truthful, heartfelt appeals can mobilize support and prevent the hardship of eviction. Even a small contribution can make a significant difference, helping families and individuals navigate storms and secure their homes for the future.
