How I Finally Stopped Snoozing & Got Stuff Done

1️⃣ Paying to wake up 💸

I thought nothing could get me out of bed… until I booked a 7 AM workout class with a $20 no-show fee. The first time I skipped? I felt that charge in my soul 😭. After that, waking up became way easier. My bank account is thriving, and so is my morning routine.

2️⃣ An alarm that bullies me awake 🚨

🔹 Nuj Alarm Clock – This app made me stick a barcode on my fridge (yes, really). If I don’t scan it, I get charged money. I got hit with a fine twice before learning my lesson… Now I wake up instantly because I refuse to give them another cent LOL.

🔹 Alarmy – When I want to go full savage mode, I set it to make me solve a math problem or memorize certain things. Nothing jolts me awake faster than having to do algebra at 6 AM..

3️⃣ Throwing my phone across the room 📱

If my phone is next to me, I’ll snooze it in my sleep. So I leave it across the room before bed. I sometimes put it outside my room too maybe in the kitchen or living room. By the time I walk over to turn it off, I’m already moving… and at that point, going back to bed feels pointless. Bonus hack: I keep a glass of water next to it and drink it first thing.

4️⃣ The 3-second rule

If I let myself think in the morning, I will stay in bed. So instead, I count: 1, 2, 3… GO. No debating, no excuses. I just get up before my brain catches on. It’s dumb, but it works. You can try counting to 5 if you need more time to get used to the trick.

5️⃣ Making mornings actually enjoyable ✨

If my mornings feel like a chore, I won’t wake up. So I make them fun. I usually make a matcha latte, and journal while my brain loads. Sometimes I go for a walk or try out new skincare products. It’s the little rituals that make getting out of bed way easier.

... Read moreStruggling to wake up in the morning is a common issue, but implementing a consistent morning routine can turn this around. Begin by assessing your sleep schedule and ensure you get sufficient rest. Consider using alarms strategically—opt for harsh sounds over soothing melodies to prompt immediate wakefulness. Additionally, the psychology behind setting financial penalties, like booking early morning classes, can be remarkably effective in motivating timely rising. Establishing enjoyable morning activities, like savoring a matcha latte or meditating, can gradually build positive associations with morning wakefulness. Integrating simple physical movements, such as stretching or a brief walk, can stimulate your energy levels and rejuvenate your mind. When mornings are seen as enjoyable rather than obligatory, the desire to snooze diminishes significantly. Experiment with these tips and adjust based on what resonates with you to create your ideal morning regimen.
