How to Think Like the Top 2% of Students
1. Plan Your Day the Night Before 🗓️
This habit helps me wake up with purpose. Most students wake up and immediately react to whatever notifications or emails feel most urgent. By taking just five minutes the night before to define my top three priorities, I wake up with a clear, simple plan that eliminates decision fatigue and lets me dive right into my most important work.
2. Create More Than You Consume ✍️
This habit helps me actively apply my knowledge. It's easy to spend free time scrolling through social media or watching videos, but the top 2% of students balance this by creating something. Spending time writing a summary, working on a side project, or building a skill cements my learning and gives me a sense of accomplishment.
3. Ask "Dumb" Questions in Class 🙋♀️
Asking questions helps me build a strong foundation of understanding for more complex topics later on. Many of us stay silent in class, afraid of looking stupid. I've learned that the top students value clarity over ego; they ask the "dumb" question because their goal isn't to look smart, but to actually be smart by ensuring they understand the material completely.
4. Review When It's Not Urgent 🧠
This habit helps me build long-term memory of my subjects and avoid stressful exam cramming. The vast majority of students only look at their notes in a panic the night before a test. By doing a quick 10-minute review of my lecture notes within 24 hours, I leverage the power of spaced repetition, which makes it much easier to recall information later and makes exam season a much calmer experience.
