Called out friend’s bf
One of my close friends has never dated before. Recently she started seeing this coworker who gave her super mixed signals—sweet one minute, controlling the next. He even texted her once saying, “Did I give you permission to go on that trip?” when they weren’t even together.
I told her back then he was a walking red flag. She agreed… but then a few months later, she revealed she was dating him. On a group call, I asked if he ever apologized for manipulating her to make her jealous. She didn’t answer. I told her I wouldn’t tell her to break up, but I needed her to understand his behavior wasn’t okay.
She hasn’t spoken to me since, and now I’m wondering if I went too far by being so blunt about it.
Would you stay quiet to keep the friendship, or be honest like I was?

I’m honest and straightforward when it comes to things like that, especially since I’d want someone to be the same. However, I always acknowledge that they’re grown and are gonna make their own decision(s). So, although it would be nice the friend didn’t get with the crappy guy, things have to play out. I hope she comes to her senses about him before in too deep.
