SKETCHBOOK TOUR: My Food Drawings! BRUNCH Edition
As I choose what to paint, I try to envision what products or patterns I want to create. I had an idea for a brunch themed greeting card & invitation suite and started brainstorming all of my favorite brunchy foods. Eggs, bagels, coffee, muffins, etc.
My process involves collecting several different styles of photographs to use as reference photos. I focus on color and shape variation, and make sure I have at least 6 of any given theme before I paint.
From there, I prepare sketches all at once so that when I have energy to paint, I can just get right to it.

Brunch is often regarded as a perfect occasion for gathering, and it can also inspire numerous artistic endeavors. In watercolor art, capturing the charm of brunch foods such as eggs, bagels, and coffee can be a delightful challenge for artists. To create vibrant pieces, it's important to focus on light, texture, and color variations found in these foods. Using high-quality materials, such as 100% cotton paper and good watercolor palettes, ensures that the artwork replicates the lively feel of brunch settings. Moreover, the incorporation of shadows and highlights is crucial to achieving depth. When painting, consider sketching first to visualize layouts effectively. Quick adjustments with white ink can rectify mistakes, saving time compared to digital editing, thereby preserving the spontaneity of traditional watercolor techniques. Engaging in such creative projects not only enhances your skill but also promotes appreciation for culinary art. Inviting your friends or family to join in the artistic experience could also add an exciting dimension to your brunch gatherings, sparking joy and inspiration alike.

you’re so talented 🥹
