Dad's last Football game!!🏈💚

A sad but exciting day for our family!

Verity’s dad has been in college 4 hrs away not able to visit us due to football. Today was his last game and I am so proud of him and so excited for him to be home with our family at the end of the year.

Our pregnancy was unexpected and it’s been very hard raising our daughter on my own, but we are one step closer from being home permanently!

My own journey through an unexpected pregnancy and then solo parenting while my partner pursued his college football dreams has taught me so much. The excitement of "Dad's last Football game!" wasn't just about the sport ending; it was about the start of a new chapter for our little family, finally being all together. One of the biggest hurdles has been maintaining connection across the miles. We've relied heavily on video calls, making sure our daughter, even as a baby, could see and hear her dad regularly. It’s not the same as physical presence, but it certainly helps bridge the gap. We'd share photos and little video snippets throughout the day, so he always felt included in her milestones, big or small. For anyone else with a partner far away, consistency in communication, even if it's just a quick text or a five-minute call, can make a world of difference. Another significant aspect is the emotional and practical support system you build around yourself. When you're essentially a single parent for an extended period, leaning on friends and family becomes crucial. They can offer a listening ear, a helping hand with errands, or just be there for a much-needed break. I've also found immense comfort and advice in online communities with other parents in long-distance relationships or those whose partners are in demanding professions that take them away from home. Sharing experiences and knowing you're not alone in the struggle is incredibly empowering. Preparing for the reunion, after months of him being away due to his college commitments, has also been a process. It’s not just about the joy of having him home; it's also about adjusting to a new dynamic. I've been a solo parent for so long that our daily routines and rhythms are entirely mine. Reintegrating him into the everyday parenting tasks and household responsibilities will require patience and open communication. We’re excited to truly feel like a complete unit, to make new memories, and to finally have both parents present for all those precious moments, like watching our "sleepy girl" dream or just enjoying quiet family time. The pictures of our "LOVE our little family" truly capture the essence of what we've been striving for. It’s a journey that has tested our resilience, but it’s one that has also strengthened our bond and made us appreciate every moment we have together even more.
