DIY Iced Coffee — from a former barista! ☕️

It’s iced coffee season again! Or maybe it never ended—iced coffee is really a year round drink 🤷‍♀️ I don’t make the rules.

I do make a good iced coffee though! I worked at a mom & pop coffee shop during high school, so I’ve got a little coffee knowledge under my belt 😌 but some of my methods might be a little unconventional lol.

STEP 1: Start with your coffee! I’m using beans from 7 Weeks Coffee (use OFFICIALCCW to reduce your total 10%!) in my espresso machine. BUT if you don’t have an espresso machine, try cold brew! Or, brew your coffee hot & chill it in the fridge. Add some instant coffee to intensify the flavor, depending on your taste. (Coffee should be at least warm when adding instant coffee, or it won’t dissolve well.) I have about 3 oz of espresso here.

STEP 2: Add your flavoring. I used Ghirardelli white chocolate powder & caramel sauce. The options here are really limitless though! Search the app for DIY coffee syrups, you’ll get a lot of great options, and many are sold in store too. Mixing the sweeteners while your coffee is still hot will be helpful. If you’re using cold brew, you may have to stir a little longer to allow things to mix. You can also use flavored coffee creamer for this step.

STEP 3: Add ice & stir. If you want to avoid watered down coffee, consider freezing brewed coffee in an ice cube tray! I added a full tray of ice cubes.

STEP 4 & 5: Add your milk of choice, or water! Observe the beauty as you mix it all together 😍 Optionally, add whipped cream and toppings! Cold foam would be a nice touch here also. Search for recipes on that!

There are many ways to make an iced coffee work, do what you like best! This is the method I was taught & it hasn’t ever failed me 🤗

Also if you use espresso, put your sauces/syrups in FIRST - your shot won’t die that way!
