Read moreAs someone who absolutely loves diving into the world of high school TV shows, I know the struggle of finding the perfect series to binge-watch and, more importantly, where to actually watch it! There’s something so captivating about the drama, the friendships, the first loves, and the challenges that unfold during those formative years. From classic comfort shows to gritty modern tales, I’ve found that streaming services offer a treasure trove of content. Let’s start with Netflix, a powerhouse for teen dramas. Beyond the original list, I've spent countless hours with shows like Gilmore Girls, which, for me, is the ultimate comfort watch with its witty dialogue and heartwarming mother-daughter bond. Then there’s the incredibly insightful Atypical, which beautifully navigates high school life from the perspective of someone on the autism spectrum – it really broadened my understanding. And who could forget the intense and often dramatic hallways of Degrassi Next Class? It always tackled real-world issues head-on, encouraging viewers to stand up for themselves. While Stranger Things might not be a typical high school drama, its core group of friends and their coming-of-age story amidst supernatural events definitely captures that youthful spirit, especially as they get older through the seasons. And of course, Pretty Little Liars kept me on the edge of my seat for years, constantly guessing 'who is your friend' and who 'A' really was! Moving on to Disney+ and Hulu, which together offer an expansive library. I was hooked on Glee for its incredible musical numbers and the way it showcased the power of show choir. It’s pure joy! For something a bit more intense, The Secret Life of the American Teenager (often just called American Teenager) delves into the complexities of teen pregnancy and its ripple effects, offering a very different kind of high school experience. And if you're into family dramas, The Fosters is a must-watch. It beautifully portrays a blended family with adopted children navigating high school and beyond, and its spin-off, Good Trouble, continues those stories into young adulthood. These shows really highlight the diverse experiences of young people. Finally, let's not forget Paramount+, which is fantastic for a dose of nostalgia. Drake & Josh was a staple for me growing up – their hilarious antics as two guys in high school always put a smile on my face. It's a great example of classic, light-hearted teen comedy. When I'm trying to pick my next watch, I usually think about my mood. Am I in the mood for a heavy drama, a laugh-out-loud comedy, or something that makes me think? Each of these services has something unique to offer, and by exploring their catalogues, you're bound to find a show that resonates with you. Happy streaming!
