How to maximize your breastfeeding journey!!
Hiiiii, I just want to share a few tips and tricks I learned. With my first baby I was an under supplier. I did so much research that by the time I had my second baby I was so prepared and knowledgeable that now I have an oversupply of breast milk.
1). The first two weeks after baby is born is so important to establish a supply. It will be exhausting but you HAVE to make sure you are pumping/baby is eating every 2-4 hours. The more activity the breast gets the more your body thinks it needs to create milk. I did not do this with my first I only latched when she would need fed and really didn’t prioritize pumping and I believe that’s why it was so hard to create milk.
2). Protein protein protein. I can not stress this enough. You have to fuel your body in order to create milk. I would always eat 4 eggs for breakfast with some avocado, followed by a Oikos protein yogurt (I added fruit and granola). Then I would made a smoothie (strawberries, spinach, banana, Isopure protein powder). At any time I felt hungry protein snack bars were my go to. Skipping a meal is not an option. Always remember with hydration is key. I love Koia protein drinks and I swear by the body armour lytes with keeping hydrated along with water.
3). This is going to sound cliche but it’s reality. You can not stress out. I wish someone woulda told me this with my first because I didn’t make enough milk to keep her full. I wish I would have formula fed at least once or twice in replacement. It took a toll mentally and emotionally on why I wasn’t creating milk for my baby. I had a different mindset with my second, “if it happens great, if not that’s ok too” meaning if my breastfeeding journey wasn’t success I wasn’t going to put so much pressure on myself and I can tell a different without the stress the second time around it’s a lot easier.
4). My favorite pump is the spectra S2 that I got for free thru insurance. The first time around I used medula, while wasn’t the worst pump, I definitely feel like it didn’t help empty me every time I pumped.

Breastfeeding is a rewarding but sometimes challenging journey for new mothers. Establishing a healthy milk supply is crucial, especially in the first few weeks. Frequent breastfeeding or pumping every 2-4 hours can signal your body to produce more milk. Nutrition plays an essential role in this process; a diet rich in protein, such as eggs, dairy, and plant-based sources, is key to successful milk production. Staying hydrated is equally important. Many breastfeeding mothers find that beverages like Koia protein drinks and BodyArmor Lyte help maintain their hydration levels effectively while providing essential nutrients. Alongside proper nutrition and hydration, reducing stress levels can significantly affect your milk supply. Emphasizing a relaxed mindset can foster a better breastfeeding experience. If you encounter difficulties with milk production, consider supplementing with formula as needed; this approach takes the pressure off and allows for a more enjoyable feeding experience. For those using breast pumps, finding the right equipment is vital. Many moms recommend the Spectra S2, known for its effectiveness and efficiency compared to other models. Ultimately, every mother's breastfeeding journey is unique; embracing flexibility while seeking helpful resources can make a meaningful difference.
