Preparing to leave home and start university is a significant milestone that often comes with mixed emotions—from excitement to nostalgia. The day before leaving can feel especially overwhelming as you say goodbyes to family and friends. In my experience, taking some time to reflect on what lies ahead and organizing your essentials can ease the transition. Packing thoughtfully, including items that remind you of home, helps maintain a comforting connection during your first days at college. One of the biggest challenges I faced was managing the balance between independence and staying connected with loved ones. Scheduling regular calls and sharing updates can help lessen homesickness. Also, exploring campus resources and getting involved with university communities, such as clubs or study groups, is a great way to build a support system. Documenting your journey, like creating a vlog or journal, not only captures memories but also allows you to process your experiences. This last day at home is both an end and a beginning; embracing it fully helps set a positive tone for university life. Remember, saying goodbye is tough, but it's also the start of a new and exciting chapter at UMiami and beyond.
