parenting 3 boys — a diary 🖤

Some of these won’t be everyone’s approach (clearly 😂) but that’s ok!!

This is just what works for our family in this season with 3 little boys.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that motherhood gets a lot lighter when you stop trying to parent around everyone else’s opinions 👏🏼

Agree? Or are we agreeing to disagree? 🤭

Contrary to what some believe, either way is fine lol

... Read moreRaising three boys is a unique and rewarding challenge that reshapes how you view parenting and motherhood. One thing I've come to realize is that parenting isn’t about being perfect or following everyone else’s advice—it's about finding what truly works for your family dynamic. For example, letting kids get dirty isn't just acceptable; it's essential. Childhood involves exploration, and getting messy is how boys learn and grow. I’ve noticed that allowing my sons to play freely, even if it means muddy clothes or a little chaos, nurtures their creativity and resilience. Setting firm boundaries is also crucial. Saying "no" without guilt empowers both me and my boys to understand limits, building respect and trust rather than resentment. I also avoid forcing affection, like mandatory hugs for others, which respects their feelings and autonomy, while still encouraging them to express love naturally within the family. Another insight is embracing conflict as a teaching moment. Letting them "fight it out" helps them develop social skills and problem-solving abilities, even if it’s messier or takes longer than expected. Moreover, involving them in chores, despite the slower pace and extra mess, builds responsibility and teamwork. Perhaps most importantly, prioritizing time for myself has transformed me into a more regulated and patient mom. Parenting three boys is demanding, and self-care isn't selfish—it’s necessary for mental and emotional balance. Of course, there are moments I lose my temper and feel guilty later, but acknowledging these moments without shame helps me grow as a parent. Ultimately, it’s not about raising perfectly behaved children, but about fostering confident, happy, and good humans. Choosing to parent based on what feels right for your family, instead of outside opinions, can make motherhood lighter and more fulfilling. If you’re a mom navigating similar challenges, sharing your story and embracing your unique methods can be incredibly empowering.
