– I think that this crime story from Canada will appeal primarily to people interested in true crime documentaries, but I must admit as a fan of crime stories, that this one is really dull. They are too many unexplained details, what a disappointment. DNA tests are missing in the house, etc. The most frustrating thing is not having investigated her phone records earlier, incomprehensible! It makes no sense to me.
2. Lover Stalker Killer, 2024

– It's an interesting documentary that explores a severe case of stalking to the point that if it were a movie, it would be hard to believe. It also illustrates the dangers of online dating, where you never know the true personality of a person. Although it took a long time to solve, the authorities working on the case did a great job, especially the tech expert who dedicated himself so much that he refused to have brain surgery until he solved the case. He was the main reason the case was solved. The documentary is engaging, with many interesting twists and turns that I won't talk about to avoid giving spoilers, but I do recommend watching it.
3. American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing, 2023

– This three-part series is a broad and profound look into the events, and people, connected with the bombing at the 2013 Boston Marathon. It's an especially interesting character study of those who were responsible for the bombing, and of those who were most affected on the day of the Marathon- and the week that followed. The actual terrorists, the local Boston Police, the FBI, along with the local and National Media, are all examined and well represented. Those who were interviewed all have very intriguing stories to tell. Extremely well edited and produced with emotional testimonies. It was compelling from start to finish. I highly recommend this docuseries as it was well worth the three hours. I give it a strong 8. If you're even remotely interested to know what happened at the 2013 Boston Marathon, watch this, right now.
4. The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker, 2023

– It seems like an unintentional documentary on how the kid could have been rescued or helped with many chances to do so but all the people he kept crossing paths with only saw how they could benefit from him or cast him aside when they were done with their intents for him. Fairly crazy to look at these many people just act as if they don't know what they are doing, fairly mesmerizing, really. The pattern just keeps repeating from different people and even from the same people he crosses more than once, noone wants to see past themselves and face the reality that is in front of them basically screaming for help. What a sad society.
5. American Nightmare, 2024

– This was an eye-opening experience for me. At the beginning you think the authorities are doing a good job and coming to valid conclusions, and you agree with the conclusions. Then things change.
The organization of the documentary and the editing make so good. The way it is presented keeps you interested to the point that you will most likely binge it. It is hard to turn it off.
In the end one person who is sincere and so admirable for understanding the responsibility entrusted by the public saves the day. And the integrity and stalwartness of this person flood you with a warm and grateful feeling. Loved this absolutely.
