What Ive gotten from my (almost) 2 yr relationship

1. Relationships should be fun ✨

Yes, relationships have fights and sometimes things are hard for one person or even both but if you truely love eachother and want to make it last, the fights won’t last. So BE SILLY, do spontaneous random things, and just have fun.

2. You have to think of the other person first 🌸

Something that has been hard after not being in a relationship for a while, or ever, is thinking about the other person before yourself. Say usually you go and get a giant pizza to eat over a couple days so you don’t have to cook. Well my boyfriend is allergic to gluten, so I have to think about what he can eat, over what I would want to eat.

3. Distance 🥲

I personally think that everyone, even if it really sucks, should subject themselves to a long distance relationship at some point. It reveals issues and problems that you may not have noticed if you guys are always together in person. And it sets you up to talk through things better since you can’t just do it in person, you have to physically communicate better because that’s all you can do over the phone.

4. Feelings 🩷

When you’re in a relationship, it’s most likely that you and your bf/gf don’t experience emotions the same way. I typically bottle them up, but my bf encourages me to let them out because, long term it’s more healthy.

5. Heart over looks 🌹

Personally, I think I got lucky with the most handsome man in the world but others might think otherwise. But the first thing I noticed about him was his kindness, and if you find a person like that, and will treat you like the princess you are, the looks will just become handsome and good looking to you even if you didn’t think so at first. Because as the corny saying goes “the beauty on the inside is what counts” and it’s true!!

One of the most significant takeaways is the essence of having fun together, which can often act as a remedy during tough times. Engaging in spontaneous activities and creating memories helps to lighten the mood and strengthen your connection. Another important lesson learned is the need to prioritize your partner’s needs. It's crucial to foster a mindset that considers their preferences, especially in everyday choices like meals or leisure activities. This can lead to a more harmonious living situation and shows consideration, which is vital for any relationship's success. It forces couples to hone their communication skills, allowing them to express feelings and resolve conflicts through various mediums, which can ultimately enhance intimacy.
