Akanebashi Bridge is a double arch across the Akanegawa River in Bungo Ono City.
It was built in Taisho 12.
Even after more than 100 years, it still lives as an essential infrastructure for people's lives.
The craftsman was Tokichi Miyazaki.
The fabric is beautiful anyway.
On the right bank is a stone monument with the names of the people who donated.
I wonder if there are traces of a former stone quarry beside it.
It may have been a convenient place to procure materials.
As if praying for the safety of people coming and going, Jizo-san was quietly watching at the foot.
It is also fun to cross while feeling the history carefully.

茜橋は大正12年に架設されて以来、100年以上にわたり地域の生活を支え続けている貴重な歴史遺産です。個人的に訪問した際には、石工・宮崎止吉の技術が光る美しい布積みが特に印象的で、その精巧さは今でも芸術品のように感じられました。 また、橋の右岸に立つ寄付者芳名の石碑からは、地域の人々がこの橋の維持に対して強い想いを持っていたことが伝わってきました。近くの旧石切場跡も見学すると、この土地と橋の関わりが深いことがわかり、資材調達の便を考えた先人たちの工夫に感嘆しました。 さらに、橋のたもとに静かに佇むお地蔵さんは、通行人の安全を祈願しているかのように感じられ、訪れる人に温かみを与えています。歴史的背景を感じながらゆっくり渡ることで、単なる通路以上の心地よい時間を過ごせるおすすめスポットです。 私は地元の歴史散策が好きで、茜橋周辺はノスタルジーを味わうのに絶好の場所だと思います。特に落ち着いた秋の午後に訪れると、橋と自然の調和が美しく、写真撮影にも最適です。豊後大野市を訪れる際には、ぜひ茜橋で大正時代の建築美と地域の歴史に触れてみてください。
