Door Dash Chronicles

Today in My Door Dashing Chronicles will be things I dislike while Dashing.

I have never worked in the food industry before and I am not trained to handle food. I am simply a Dasher, responsible for delivering the food from the restaurant to your doorstep. Please do not expect me to make your drinks or handle any food-related tasks. So, to all the Wingstop McAllister’s and Chipotle stores, please stop asking me to fill the drink cups.

What is something you don’t like about Dashing??#doordashers #momcontentcreator #partyofone #doordashingstories #huntsvsvilletexas

... Read moreBeing a DoorDasher is definitely an experience, and while it offers flexibility, it also comes with its fair share of unique challenges that go beyond just making drinks! I've been out there on the roads of Huntsville, Texas, juggling orders and trying to hit those daily earnings goals, and let me tell you, it's not always smooth sailing. One major struggle is the constant wear and tear on your car. You're putting a lot of miles on your vehicle, burning gas, and often dealing with traffic or tricky parking situations, especially in busy areas. It makes you wonder how much those earnings, like the $60.51 I might make in a few hours, actually cover your expenses after gas and maintenance. It's a real balancing act trying to keep your car in good shape while maximizing your income. Then there are the delivery logistics. Apartment complexes can be a nightmare! Finding the right building, the correct floor, and then navigating confusing hallways – it can really eat into your time. Sometimes customers don't provide clear instructions, or they don't answer their phone, leaving you guessing. It's frustrating when you're trying to be efficient, but elements outside your control slow you down. Customer interactions can also be a mixed bag. Most people are lovely and appreciative, but you occasionally encounter those who are less understanding. Whether it's unrealistic expectations about delivery times or issues with their order (which are usually the restaurant's fault, not mine!), it can sometimes lead to unfair ratings. As a driver, your ratings are crucial, so every interaction feels like it's under a microscope. Another common gripe among dashers is waiting at restaurants. While I understand places can get busy, sometimes you arrive, and the order isn't even started. This not only delays the delivery but also impacts how many orders you can complete in an hour, directly affecting your potential earnings. It can be a real test of patience when you're just standing there, watching the clock tick. Finally, there's the emotional aspect. It can be a bit isolating spending hours on the road alone, and the pressure to deliver quickly and perfectly can be stressful. Sometimes you just want to vent about those specific challenges, like being asked to do tasks outside your job description – because, as I always say, 'I'm a DoorDasher, not a waitress!' It's a common sentiment among us. Sharing these 'DoorDash Chronicles' helps connect with other drivers who understand these daily realities. It's not just about the money; it's about the experience and the respect for the job we do.
