Creating personalized, hand-painted gifts for loved ones is one of the most rewarding feelings! The green leaves received a few different shades of green, adding highlights for a fresh, vibrant look. And those little red berries? A tiny dot of white in the center can make them look shiny and ripe! Using fine-tipped brushes is essential for these smaller details. My biggest tip for anyone trying cardinal painting, or any animal painting, is to use reference photos! Google is your best friend here. Look at cardinals from different angles, observe how their feathers lay, and notice the subtle color variations. Don't be afraid to experiment with your paints. Blending colors directly on the figurine can create a more natural look than just using one flat color. Once all the paint was dry, I applied a clear sealant. This protects the paint from dust, moisture, and fading, ensuring these beautiful painted cardinal gifts will last for years to come.
