What goes into selling bookmarks and hairties
Just a little behind the scenes (that took 3 days to film, so I mostly had the good lighting) of all the little things that go into being a small business. it's a lot of little things that add up, especially when you work 40+ hours and have adhd. I love it though, and I'd love to be friends with more people who are like me: love books, cats, nerdy things, and crochet. If you're neuro-spicy you're also part of my tribe ;)

Running a small business selling handmade items like bookmarks and hair ties involves many small but important tasks that add up over time. From crafting each item with care to managing orders and shipping, sellers often work long hours—sometimes over 40 per week—to keep their business running smoothly. When neurodivergence, such as ADHD, comes into play, organization and focus can be more challenging, but many find ways to harness their unique traits to foster creativity and productivity. Filming behind-the-scenes videos often reveals a sped-up glimpse of what really happens—from meticulous preparation, managing inventory, to packaging products. This contrasts sharply with what customers might imagine to be a simple and quick process. The passion for handmade crafts often stems from a love for niche communities—like readers, cat lovers, and fellow crochet enthusiasts—connecting through shared interests and creativity. Building a business in such communities not only supports creators financially but also offers a sense of belonging and tribe, especially for those who identify as neuro-spicy. It’s important to balance workload, self-care, and creative flow, recognizing the value in every small step that leads to growth and sustainability in a niche market. This journey combines craftsmanship, personal expression, and entrepreneurial spirit, making it meaningful beyond just selling products.
