✨ Welcome to Enchanted Highlanders ✨

My name is DC, and I am the heart, hands, and dedication behind Enchanted Highlanders (aka Enchantedlanders). I’ve been involved with the Highlander breed since my teenage years, first as a devoted pet owner for many years, and only stepping into breeding a couple of years ago under wonderful mentorship with Jamie Woods and Mary Hudec. Today, my oldest Highlander is 10 years old. I chose to transition from pet ownership into breeding with intention—not for profit, but with purpose—to promote, preserve, improve, and help this incredible breed thrive for generations to come.

📍 I am located near Nashville, Tennessee, and I am a proud member of TICA, CFF, and ACFA for the Highlander breed. I am a hobby breeder, and my cattery is fully home-raised, shared with my family, our children, and our dog. These cats are not “kennel cats”—they are part of our daily lives.

You’ll find us active across multiple platforms, sharing videos, education, updates, and real-life moments of the Highlander breed—not just to showcase our own cattery, but to help others fall in love with Highlanders and truly understand the joy, personality, and magic they bring into a home.

📚 Education is a big part of what we do.

We also work to help owners and veterinarians better understand the Highlander breed, including breed-specific traits such as their ears, proper care, and genetics. Highlander ears have no connection to the Scottish Fold breed, and unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation shared online. We strive to provide accurate, responsible information so families and professionals alike can make informed decisions and better advocate for these cats.

Many of you know how deeply passionate I am about cats and especially the Highlander breed. My journey began as a lifelong pet owner and continued through working in the veterinary field, eventually leading me into running a cattery. Becoming a breeder opened my eyes to challenges I never could have fully understood beforehand. I’ve learned a lot, I’m still learning, and through every high and low, I’ve chosen to stay committed—because this breed and my families matter to me.

🧬 Health and genetics are a cornerstone of our program.

Our cattery is genetically tested, with all adult cats tested, and for many lines, testing extends to grandparents and beyond. We also have T-box tail variants and novel variants, all documented and participating under Dr. Lyons’ genome study, contributing to ongoing research to better understand and protect the breed.

🤍 Supporting my families is just as important as raising my kittens.

Seeing my babies grow up loved, spoiled, and cherished in their forever homes is the most rewarding part of what I do.

As my program continues to grow, I’ve become more intentional and selective with my process—my applications, my contracts, and the standards I hold for my kittens’ care. At Enchanted Highlanders:

• No kitten leaves before 14 weeks (typically 14–17 weeks or longer if needed)

• All first-year vaccinations

• Spay/neuter, microchipping, and 30-day Trupanion insurance

• A full health examination

• Travel health certificates for out-of-state families

• Thoughtfully curated custom goodie bags, custom wand toys, and a fully loaded kitten folder

Additional details can always be found in the Kitten FAQ section of our website.

✨ Transparency, honesty, and lifelong support are the foundation of Enchanted Highlanders.

Like many visible programs, we do have our fair share of trolls and misinformation attempts, but if there is ever a concern or question, I always encourage reaching out directly. Open communication matters to me, and I’m happy to address things respectfully and honestly.

While I strive to do everything right to the best of my ability, I’m human—and animals aren’t perfect either. There is so much behind the scenes that families don’t always see, but please know this: every decision is made with care, intention, and the well-being of my kittens and families at heart.

If you’re here—thank you.

If you’re part of the Enchanted family already, I appreciate you more than you know.

And if you’re just discovering us, I’m so glad you found your way here 💫
