Finding the right breeder is about so much more than finding a cute kitten.
Here at Enchanted Highlanders, we believe raising confident, well-adjusted kittens starts long before they go home.
Our kittens are raised right in our home and are exposed to everyday life from an early age. They experience normal household sounds, children, other cats, dogs, and even our farm animals including ducks and geese to help build confidence and adaptability. As they grow, we introduce new experiences at a pace that’s appropriate for each kitten, including carriers, car rides, grooming, nail trims, harness introductions, and plenty of positive human interaction.
We don’t believe every kitten should fit every home. Instead, we spend weeks getting to know each kitten’s personality so we can help match them with the family and lifestyle that suits them best. Whether you’re looking for a cuddle bug, an adventure buddy, or a playful companion, temperament matters just as much as appearance.
We welcome questions about our program, genetic testing, socialization, and the lifelong support we provide to our families. An informed family is the best family.
Our goal isn’t simply to raise beautiful Highlanders; it’s to raise healthy, confident, well-socialized companions that thrive in their new homes. ❤️
... Read moreWhen looking for a Highlander kitten, it's essential to go beyond appearances and focus on the breeder’s commitment to raising healthy and socialized cats. From personal experience, I found that breeders who expose their kittens to various household sounds, different animals, and people early on help significantly with the kittens’ adaptability. For instance, introducing kittens to sounds like vacuum cleaners and the presence of dogs or farm animals can reduce future stress and behavioral issues.
It's also crucial to observe how much time a breeder spends understanding each kitten's personality. Not all kittens suit every lifestyle; some may be more adventurous and energetic, while others prefer calm companionship. Breeders like Enchanted Highlanders that match kittens thoughtfully to their future families tend to result in happier pets and owners.
Another vital aspect is the breeder’s transparency around genetic testing and health guarantees. Asking questions about these ensures the long-term wellbeing of your new furry friend. Plus, ongoing support after adoption creates a trusted relationship and helps address any challenges early.
In my experience visiting several breeders, those who focus on socialization steps such as acclimating kittens to carriers and grooming sessions made the transition to a new home much smoother. It highlights how raising a kitten involves more than just finding a cute face—it's about fostering confidence and resilience from the start.
If you're serious about welcoming a Highlander kitten into your life, seek out breeders who prioritize these values. Your kitten deserves to be a well-socialized companion thriving in a loving, informed home.
