Many people pick their skin due to stress, anxiety, or even boredom, which makes it crucial to find alternative ways to manage these feelings. One helpful approach is to keep your hands busy with other activities, such as squeezing a stress ball or engaging in crafts like knitting or drawing. This redirection can reduce the impulse to pick. Additionally, maintaining a consistent skincare routine with gentle cleansing and moisturizing can improve your skin's texture and reduce the temptation to pick at rough or dry patches. If you notice specific areas where you commonly pick, consider applying bandages or wearing gloves to create physical barriers. Some find it effective to keep a journal to track moments when the urge arises, helping identify patterns and emotional triggers. For many, seeking support from a mental health professional can provide strategies tailored to your needs, especially if skin picking is related to conditions like body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and habit reversal training are known to be effective treatments. Remember, healing takes time and patience. Celebrate small victories and be kind to yourself throughout the process. By understanding why the habit occurs and actively working to change it, you can improve both your skin’s health and your overall well-being.

Put bandaids on those areas where u pick, and put a hair tie on your wrist. Whenever you feel the need to take the bandaid off and pick at your skin, pull the hair tie and let it go. Hope this helps! ❤️
