Hot Pink | Glow In the Dark | Watercolor
Oldie but a goodie! Throwback to the making of Poppy, my hot pink glow in the dark color ✨✨✨
Working with glow-in-the-dark watercolors can be a magical experience that adds a new dimension to your artwork. One great tip is to use a good quality pigment for the base color, like hot pink, which really stands out when illuminated in darkness. In my experience, layering the paint carefully helps achieve both vivid daytime brightness and strong glow effects after dark. Another key factor is the type of glow pigment mixed into the watercolor. Phosphorescent powders that charge quickly under light and emit a steady, long-lasting glow work best. It’s important to mix these powders thoroughly but gently into your watercolor medium to keep the texture smooth for painting. When painting, consider your light source and background. Black or dark papers make the glow pop, and practicing brush control with a wet-on-wet technique can create stunning soft edges around the glowing areas. Allow each layer to dry completely before adding more, as moisture can reduce glow intensity. Lastly, do not forget to ‘charge’ your artwork under bright light to activate the luminescence before showing it in the dark. Watching the hot pink tones transform and glow beautifully adds an exciting interactive element to your art pieces. Experimenting with glow-in-the-dark watercolors opens up endless possibilities for creative expression and unique artworks that truly come alive when the lights go out.
