🔑 Keys collected, and the reno officially begins! 🏠✨

After collecting our keys, the very first thing we did was hack EVERYTHING.

As a resale flat owner, we wanted a fresh start, so all the old tiles had to go before we could build our dream home. In just 3 days, the whole place looked like a construction zone 🤯

Once the debris was cleared, electrical works started right away ⚡️

Trust the process... because right now, it definitely doesn't look like a home yet 😂

Follow along for Part 2: the tiling transformation 👀✨

... Read moreRenovating a resale HDB flat can be both thrilling and overwhelming. Our experience of beginning the renovation right after key collection gave us a fresh perspective on managing the chaos and making effective progress. One crucial lesson we learned early on is the importance of hacking strategically. This means carefully planning demolition areas like toilets and bedrooms, as shown in our photos of the 'After of toilet hacking' and 'After of bedrooms hacking.' Removing old tiles and fixtures not only prepares the space but also reveals any hidden issues, like water leaks or unstable walls, which can be addressed before moving forward. Electrical works are another significant step that should not be rushed. After clearing debris, having the electricians start promptly ensures that wiring and outlets align perfectly with your renovation design. This avoids costly reworks later and guarantees safety compliance for your home. While the first two weeks may look chaotic—a true construction zone—it’s essential to trust the process. Set realistic timelines and stay organized by maintaining checklists and communicating regularly with your contractors. If you’re planning your own resale HDB renovation, don’t underestimate the power of patience during the hacking and electrical phases. Taking this time to lay a solid foundation will pay off when you start bringing in new finishes like tiling, cabinetry, and decor. Finally, following renovation communities such as #renovationsg and #renovationtips can offer valuable support and inspiration. Sharing your progress and challenges can also create a sense of camaraderie as others embark on similar journeys. Remember, every messy beginning leads to a beautiful transformation!
