DEEP DARK TRENCH (2018)
DDT is my favorite album from christtt. the album is about 9/11 and the loss of innocence that was experienced in its wake. christtt commissioned CWC (Christine Weston Chandler) to do the album art.
DEEP DARK TRENCH (2018) by Christtt is a poignant musical exploration of the emotional and societal aftermath of the September 11 attacks. The album delves into themes of tragedy, loss, and the shattering of the American Dream, capturing the collective grief and reflection that followed that day. The album’s commissioned artwork by Christine Weston Chandler (CWC) significantly enhances its narrative, visually echoing the somber tone and deep symbolism presented in the tracks. Elements such as references to ‘‘Sacrificial Lamb,’’ ‘‘American Dream,’’ ‘‘Thoughts and Prayers,’’ and ‘‘From the Ashes’’ appear both in the album’s music and its imagery, providing a cohesive experience that invites listeners to contemplate both personal and national healing. Musically, the album employs a mix of instrumental and vocal compositions that reflect a journey through pain, memory, and hope. Titles like ‘‘Fallin(g) Blind,’’ ‘‘National Tragedy,’’ and ‘‘Hope’’ underscore the complexity of emotions intertwined within the 9/11 legacy. The DEEP DARK TRENCH project serves as a cultural artifact that preserves the memory of 9/11 through art, urging listeners to never forget the lives lost and the impact on world peace. For new listeners, understanding the context of the album enriches its emotional depth, highlighting how music can be a powerful medium for processing tragedy and encouraging collective remembrance and resilience.
