One mom, one teacher on summer break, and one that can’t seem to stay home for more than two days in a row 🥴
As someone who juggles the demands of motherhood and teaching, summer breaks often feel like a double-edged sword. On one hand, you have the gift of time to recharge; on the other, there's a restless energy that pushes you to keep moving—rarely staying home more than a couple of days at a stretch. This kind of routine can be both invigorating and exhausting. I can deeply relate to managing health challenges alongside these busy days. In particular, living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) adds an extra layer of complexity. There are mornings marked by a hesitancy to get out of bed due to discomfort—a feeling reminiscent of the 8 AM entry from the daily snapshots where IBS made its presence known. Despite this, I find ways to celebrate small joys like morning FaceTime calls with loved ones or a special birthday breakfast, moments that help maintain a positive outlook even on tough days. One aspect that helps me is maintaining a flexible schedule and adjusting expectations. Asking friends to check in or share pictures throughout the day can highlight how differently everyone experiences their own summer break, helping me feel connected and less isolated in my journey. It’s fascinating to observe how varied our routines can be—from early wakeups to peaceful naps—and how those differences enrich our lives. Overall, balancing the roles of a mom, a teacher on summer break, and managing IBS means embracing unpredictability. Some days are full of activity and joy, while others require rest and self-care. Staying mindful of these dynamics and reaching out for community support make this season more manageable and meaningful.
