... Read moreYou know that feeling when you see an artist's work and just think, 'I wish I could create something like that'? That's exactly how I feel about Moriah Elizabeth! Her vibrant, quirky, and incredibly imaginative style has always captivated me. I mean, who hasn't seen her amazing character designs and felt inspired to pick up a pen or brush? Her creative energy is just infectious! Recently, I had this urge to dive into a fun art challenge: try to draw something in Moriah Elizabeth's distinctive style. It wasn't about copying, but more about understanding her approach to color, line work, and bringing characters to life. I wanted to 'feel like Moriah Elizabeth' and really push my own creative boundaries. Her YouTube channel is a treasure trove of inspiration, showing her process from concept to creation, and it always makes me want to experiment more with my own art projects. For my challenge, I decided to take on Pompompurin. Why Pompompurin? Well, he's such an adorable and recognizable character, and I thought his simple yet charming design would be a great subject to reinterpret with Moriah's signature flair. I imagined how she might add her unique touches—perhaps a bolder outline, some unexpected color pops, or those expressive eyes she's so good at. The goal wasn't perfection, but rather to embrace the playful spirit that defines her work. The process itself was a blast, and also a real learning experience! I found myself paying closer attention to details I might usually overlook. Moriah Elizabeth has a way of making her characters feel so alive, whether they're her original creations or familiar figures she's reimagined. Trying to infuse Pompompurin with that same level of personality, through bolder lines and a slightly exaggerated cuteness, was a challenging but rewarding exercise. It really made me appreciate the thought and skill she puts into every single one of her drawings. This little project made me think a lot about what makes an artist truly inspiring. It's not just about technical skill, but about a unique vision and the ability to connect with an audience. Moriah Elizabeth does this so well; her art appeals to such a wide audience age range, from kids to adults, because it’s full of joy and creativity. Her characters, like her iconic 'pickle' or characters she's made from squishies, are instantly recognizable and have such distinct personalities. Even when she's working on a commission or a portrait piece, her signature style shines through. If you're an aspiring artist, or just someone looking for a fun creative outlet, I highly recommend trying a similar challenge. Pick an artist whose style you admire, and then try to create a piece (maybe one of your favorite characters!) inspired by their approach. It's a fantastic way to break out of your comfort zone and discover new aspects of your own artistic voice. And honestly, it's just pure fun! I looked at my final Pompompurin piece and thought, 'And it's not tooooo bad Right?' What do you think? I hope it gives you a little burst of creative energy too! I'd love to hear if any of you have tried drawing in Moriah Elizabeth's style or have been inspired by her work. Her ability to turn everyday objects into whimsical art, or to design such memorable characters as humans (or even just abstract creatures), is what makes her stand out. It’s a testament to her creative genius and why so many of us, myself included, keep coming back for more of her colorful world. It's not just about the art; it's about the feeling of pure, unadulterated creativity she shares.
