Every Lebaran season, many face the relentless questions from family members about personal life choices, especially around having children. This can be particularly painful for those who have experienced loss or struggle with fertility. From my personal experience, these questions often feel invasive and insensitive but have taught me resilience and the importance of self-compassion. One significant lesson I've learned is to set boundaries gently. When asked "Why don't you visit your relatives?" or "When will you have children?", it's okay to respond honestly but without feeling pressured to justify your choices or circumstances. Sharing a bit about my journey, like the two miscarriages I experienced, helped some family members understand my feelings better and discouraged unwanted advice or unsolicited solutions. I also found solace in faith and personal reflection, focusing on gratitude for small blessings and the value of emotional health. For example, acknowledging that even experiencing pregnancy, despite its heartbreaking outcomes, grants a special identity and strength. Approaching these yearly questions with patience and, when possible, humor has made the occasions less stressful. It's essential to remember that while family traditions and gatherings are important, mental well-being should take precedence. Seeking support from trusted friends, counselors, or support groups can provide comfort. Finally, advocating for more open conversations about sensitive topics in families can foster empathy and reduce stigma. By sharing real experiences, we invite understanding and create spaces where everyone feels valued beyond societal expectations.

May this cloud land softly on your heart too.
As the plane drifted through clouds soft as cotton candy, I leaned into the window—tired, hungry, but suddenly comforted. Travel isn’t always smooth, but these clouds reminded me: softness is strength too. Like that bowl of noodles at the airport, they held me gently in midair. 🤔Have y
