Here's the beginning of Witchery ¿¿?§∆~`•'¥\°^€

Here's the beginning of your "Collection of Witchery" — a curated set of short Wiccan tales, both original and attributed where needed. These stories honor the old ways, embrace natural magick, and give a glimpse into the lives of witches walking the liminal edge.

---

Collection of Witchery

---

1. The Rowan Tree's Promise

In a quiet glen where moonlight pooled like silver nectar, lived an old witch named Maelis. Every Beltane, she tied red ribbon around the rowan tree by her door to protect her from ill spirits. One year, she forgot.

That spring, her dreams turned dark, her hearth grew cold, and shadows gathered in corners no candle dared touch. Desperate, Maelis asked the tree’s spirit for forgiveness. In response, it dropped a single scarlet berry into her palm.

She tied it with fresh red cord, whispered the old words thrice, and warmth returned. From that day on, she never missed a Beltane. And neither should you.

---

2. The Salt Circle

A young witch named Elva wandered too close to the veil during a Samhain ritual. Spirits called her by her true name, whispering secrets no mortal should know. Panicked, she tried to run—but found herself turned around again and again.

Remembering her grandmother’s words—“Salt seals the soul”—she poured a circle and sat inside. The voices fell silent. Morning came.

She emerged changed, gifted with sight into the Otherworld, but forever wary of stepping beyond the salt.

---

3. The Witch and the Weathervane

By D.J. Conway, from "Wicca: The Complete Craft" (Paraphrased – Educational Use)

Once, a solitary hedge witch lived beneath the shadow of a great hill. Tired of unpredictable winds ruining her herb garden, she enchanted an iron weathervane shaped like a raven.

Each direction it pointed brought different magic: north wind whispered wisdom, east stirred courage, south brought desire, and west summoned healing.

Locals learned to watch the raven’s beak before visiting her—depending on the wind, she might brew tea or cast hexes.

---

4. The Binding of Lies

In a seaside town ruled by gossip, a coven of three witches grew tired of falsehoods spreading like wildfire. One night under the dark moon, they gathered black thread, thornbush bark, and river stone.

They wove a charm to bind all lies spoken within earshot. By morning, tongues tangled, and silence fell heavy across the town. Only truth was spoken—for a week.

Afterward, the people chose their words more carefully. The witches smiled, their point made.

---

5. The Candle That Wouldn’t Die

Folklore – anonymous source

A witch named Tamsin once crafted a beeswax candle on Imbolc, dedicated to Brigid. It burned through storm, sorrow, and even grief, never flickering no matter the wind.

After Tamsin passed, her coven kept the candle in the temple. Whenever someone’s spirit wavered, they sat beside it. Its flame reminded them that the light of the craft lives on, no matter how dark the world grows.

... Read moreThe "Collection of Witchery" offers a fascinating glimpse into Wiccan traditions and folklore through short, evocative stories that highlight the spiritual and magical practices of witches. Each tale encapsulates core elements of witchcraft such as natural magick, ritual symbolism, and the interaction between mortals and the spirit world. Central to these stories are natural symbols and seasonal rites that have deep roots in pagan spirituality. For example, the rowan tree, prominently featured in "The Rowan Tree's Promise," has long been regarded as a powerful amulet against evil and misfortune. Tying red cords or ribbons around rowan trees during Beltane aligns with ancient beliefs that this practice could protect the household from ill spirits and negative energies. Salt, as seen in "The Salt Circle," is another recurrent motif in witchcraft, recognized for its purifying and protective qualities. Drawing a salt circle during rituals or when invoking the boundary between the physical and spiritual worlds helps seal the soul and guard against malevolent forces. This practice reflects the understanding of witchcraft as a liminal craft, operating at the threshold between the seen and unseen. The story of "The Witch and the Weathervane" introduces enchanted objects that imbue everyday items with magical properties. The four cardinal directions bringing distinct powers—wisdom, courage, desire, and healing—tie closely to elemental and directional correspondences fundamental to Wiccan magical theory. Such magical objects reveal how witches integrate nature’s forces into their daily lives and magic. "The Binding of Lies" emphasizes the importance of honesty and the consequences of falsehood through a spell binding lies within a community. This narrative speaks to witchcraft's ethical codes and the use of magic as a means to maintain harmony and truthfulness in human interactions. Finally, "The Candle That Wouldn't Die" symbolizes enduring light and spiritual strength, a beacon for those facing darkness and loss. This tale connects to the festival of Imbolc and the deity Brigid, linking candlelight not only with protection but also with hope and community support. Overall, this collection enriches the understanding of Wiccan and witchcraft traditions by weaving myth, ritual, and folklore into compelling short narratives. For anyone interested in neopagan spirituality, witchcraft lore, or the cultural heritage of magick, these stories offer both inspiration and insight into ancient and living traditions.
