💭 This one is cute AF, and emotional too. I cried, and the banter had me giggling. You have the whole sunshine/grumpy trope going on. Oh plus the forbidden romance, with friends to lovers. I thought this was going to be just a basic bing bang boom romance book, but there is a little mystery, and suspense in here, a little puzzle to figure out. It’s funny because at one point I was like OMG! I KNOW WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN! Lmao Let me tell you, I was wrong. Omg I was so far off. But you have to pay attention to those little hints being dropped. This isn’t just a fire fighter basic romance, I’m telling you there is a OMG moment in there that breaks your heart. Well it did me. There is spice but not a ton, more like spicy tension. Lots of adult language though. Loved it!
💬 This is an enthralling Contemporary Romance. The romance in this book is a forbidden romance, and friends to lovers. The book does have spice, and the spice is descriptive. The book moves at a steady pace following Jamie as she takes on a traveling nurse job, and some new roommates. One is Calvin.
Calvin is closed off, and grumpy. As she does her best to break through Calvins cold demeanor things develop into more, and so could secrets. Secrets that could undo everything shes built with Calvin. This is an emotionally charged, and addictive read.
... Read moreWhen I first picked up Jewel E. Ann's 'From Air,' I was expecting a solid contemporary romance, maybe a little steamy, a little predictable. But let me tell you, this book completely blew those expectations out of the water! If you're searching for more than just a surface-level love story, and you're curious about what truly makes this book a standout, you've come to the right place.
What truly sets 'From Air' apart is its incredible depth. Yes, you get the popular grumpy/sunshine dynamic, and yes, it’s a friends-to-lovers trope that warms your heart, but it's intertwined with a forbidden element that adds so much delicious tension. Calvin, our hero, is wonderfully closed off – the kind of grumpy that makes you just want to know his secrets. And Jamie, the traveling nurse, is the perfect ray of sunshine to chip away at his walls. Their banter is top-notch, making me genuinely laugh out loud at times. I loved watching their friendship slowly, exquisitely, turn into something more, despite all the reasons it shouldn’t.
But here's where 'From Air' really surprised me: the suspense and mystery. I went in thinking it was a straightforward romance, but there's a compelling puzzle woven into the narrative that keeps you guessing. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, Jewel E. Ann pulled the rug right out from under me! Seriously, there’s an “OMG moment” that left me absolutely floored and emotionally wrecked in the best possible way. It transformed the story from a sweet romance into something truly unforgettable, proving why this author, known for her bestseller status, consistently delivers. It’s not just about the love story; it’s about uncovering hidden truths and the consequences that follow.
The emotional rollercoaster was real for me. I cried, I giggled, and I felt so deeply for these characters. The spice level is mild, more like a simmering tension that’s incredibly effective, focusing on the emotional intimacy and connection rather than explicit scenes. However, be prepared for some adult language that adds to the raw, authentic feel of the characters. Ultimately, 'From Air' is a powerful reminder that love can be found in unexpected places, even when secrets threaten to unravel everything. If you love a contemporary romance with heart, heat, and a healthy dose of mystery, this is definitely one to add to your reading list. It truly stands out among other contemporary romance themes I've read and left a lasting impression.
