📚Book Description:
Their love is the only thing that can save them from a cursed fate in the next dramatic installment in the bestselling Broken Souls and Bones series.
Lyra Bien never expected to leave the royal house at Stonegate in one piece after her rare melder magic was revealed. Once she discovered the truth behind the need for her magic and the brutality of her kingdom, Lyra vowed to put an end to the corruption of the crown. But is the enemy of her enemy her friend? Lyra must put her trust in the man who stole her heart . . . then deceived her.
Roark Ashwood rose through the ranks to become Sentry of Stonegate and personal guard to the prince, despite being born of the enemy clan, the Dravens. But in a single heartbeat he destroyed his ruthless reputation all to save Lyra. With his true identity unveiled, Roark revealed years of plotting and betrayal to everyone he loves.
As Roark’s two lives collide, he must fight to protect the woman he loves and outsmart those throughout the kingdoms who want his power for themselves. Lyra must wade through long-kept secrets, rising battles, and vicious court intrigue—all while keeping her feelings for Roark at bay.
✨Book Review✨
💭 LJ Andrews is one of my favorite authors. So reading book 2 in this duology was a pleasure. I absolutely loved book 1. Roark and Lyra are up there with my favorite couples from this author. The way the romance is in this book made my soul happy. I admit I was nervous, and yet I also trusted the author (such a conundrum). I think this book does wrap up the story nicely. There is a lot of new information given in this book, as well as new characters. I don’t know if it is to make sure that the book was wrapped up neatly. Or if it was left open for more books to be added in this world. Either one works for me tbh (especially new books, because I absolutely love this world, and magic system!). I know a lot of people will probably feel like all the new additions in this book are too much “fluff” or “unnecessary filler” but for me I feel like it adds depth to the story. I feel like it makes it more complicated. If I wanted a story that didn’t get more complicated as the story went on I would read stand alone books instead of duologies, series, trilogies, etc… personally the more complicated the romantasy is the better. So for me this book was great. But reading is subjective, so to each their own. There is some spice, but not a ton. I am a spice lover so I absolutely love that it’s in this book! The book does have a darker feel to it, which for me is a plus. Others may shy away from it, but I think it makes the book more emotional if that makes sense. Do I recommend this duology? Absolutely! This book is a great ending! Loved it!
💬 This fantasy romance is book 2 in the Broken Souls and Bones Duology. There are darker scenes, and themes in this book. The romance in this book is a pre established relationship from book 1. This book does have open door spicy scenes. Lyra is trying to accept what she’s learned about Roark. Roark wants to prove his devotion to Lyra and keep her safe when surrounded by the Dravens. Lyra and Roark struggle to continue battling their hearts when the secrets of two kingdoms come out and a war for power is upon them.
