🍉Support local small family farms 🍉

When you support our farm or any other small farmer, you’re not supporting a large organization with thousands of employees. Instead, you’re supporting a very small family who run the farm on their own. Your support helps ensure that these farmers can continue their vital work, providing fresh, healthy food and contributing to a vibrant, sustainable future for all.

Thank you for supporting local farmers and for being a part of a community that values quality, sustainability, and connection. Together, we can make a difference! 🌱❤️

You can find our produce at Drug Emporium in Waco Tx. We are so thankful to this local natural store for keeping us in their small store.

... Read moreI've been thinking a lot lately about how interconnected our lives are with our local food sources. When I first started supporting places like Hotmess Homestead, I was mostly looking for fresh produce. But it quickly became clear that small family farms do so much more than just put food on our tables. They truly are the backbone of our communities, and it's amazing to see their impact firsthand. For starters, these farms provide an incredible variety of fresh, healthy food that's often hard to find elsewhere. I'm talking about those vibrant farm-fresh eggs with their rich yolks, the incredibly sweet strawberries picked at peak ripeness, and crisp watermelons straight from the vine. And it’s not just fruit! They also grow staples like plump tomatoes, aromatic cilantro, and refreshing cucumbers. Knowing where my food comes from and seeing the care put into it is a huge comfort and a direct benefit to our community's health. Beyond the bounty, local farms are economic powerhouses in miniature. When we buy directly from them, our money stays in the community, helping these families thrive and often creating jobs for others. It’s not just the farmers themselves; it’s the people who help with harvesting, packaging, and even those who run local markets or delivery services. This ripple effect strengthens our local economy, ensuring that wealth circulates within our area rather than being siphoned off to distant corporations. Many small farms are also champions of sustainable practices, which is crucial for the long-term health of our community and planet. I've seen some using innovative methods like vertical hydroponic systems for growing cucumbers and other greens, which conserves water and land. And let's not forget the crucial role of pollinators! Farms with beehives, like those that produce local honey, are vital for biodiversity and ensuring healthy crops for everyone, not just on their land, but for surrounding areas too. They also help preserve our precious green spaces. Instead of sprawling developments, we get beautiful farmland, which is good for the environment and our mental well-being. Some farms even offer educational opportunities, like farm tours, teaching kids (and adults!) about where food comes from and the importance of agriculture. It’s such a valuable hands-on learning experience that connects people to the land and their food. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, local farms foster a sense of community. Through farmers' markets, CSA programs, or even just picking up produce directly, you connect with the people who grow your food. It builds trust, strengthens local bonds, and reminds us that we're all part of a larger, supportive network. So, while you might be wondering specifically how 'dairy farms' support their communities, these principles of providing fresh food, boosting the local economy, practicing sustainability, preserving land, educating, and building connections hold true for all local farms – whether they're producing eggs, vegetables, honey, or yes, even dairy products. Their presence enriches us all.
