June is an excellent time to visit Iceland
One of big regrets was not staying in Iceland even longer!
June was the perfect time to visit! It’s considered corner season where you get fewer crowds, nice weather, and everything is open.
Highly recommend!

I totally agree, June in Iceland was an absolute dream! When I was planning my trip, I kept asking myself, 'is June a good time to visit Iceland?' and 'what's the weather in Iceland in June like?' After experiencing it firsthand, I can confidently say it's one of the best times to go. First off, the daylight is incredible. We're talking almost 24 hours of light, especially later in the month! This 'midnight sun' phenomenon means you have so much more time to explore, and it truly makes you feel like you're getting the most out of every day. No need to rush back before sunset – you can literally hike at midnight if you want to! This extended daylight really changes the whole travel experience. Regarding the weather, it was surprisingly pleasant. While it's never really 'hot' in Iceland, June offers some of the mildest temperatures. In Reykjavik, for example, the average temperature hovered around 10-13°C (50-55°F), but it often felt warmer thanks to the long daylight and less biting winds. Of course, Iceland's weather is famously unpredictable, so I packed layers – a waterproof jacket, a warm fleece, and quick-dry hiking pants were my best friends. Even with a little rain here and there, the landscapes were just breathtaking. It’s a good reminder of what Iceland will look like in just a couple of months – vibrant green and alive, far from its winter guise! One of the biggest perks, as the original post mentioned, is that June feels like this wonderful 'corner season.' You get fewer crowds compared to the absolute peak summer months of July and August, but everything is fully open. This meant we could easily visit popular spots like Skogafoss and the Black Sand Beach without feeling overwhelmingly packed. We could take our time, soak in the views, and really feel connected to the incredible Icelandic landscape without constantly battling for a photo spot. So, what to do in Iceland in June? Honestly, the options are endless! We did the classic Golden Circle tour, which was stunning with the waterfalls and geysers. But beyond that, I highly recommend exploring the South Coast. Seeing those black sand beaches and the powerful Skogafoss waterfall with fewer people around was just magical. We also went whale watching from Reykjavik, and it was an unforgettable experience. The city itself comes alive in June; outdoor cafes are bustling, and there's a really vibrant atmosphere. If you're wondering about things to do in Iceland in June, definitely prioritize outdoor activities and scenic drives. Don't forget some shorter hikes – the trails are generally accessible and offer incredible views. The capital, Reykjavik, is a great base, offering a mix of culture, dining, and easy access to day trips. Overall, if you're contemplating a trip to Iceland, June is a fantastic choice. You get the best of both worlds: good weather and long daylight for exploration, with slightly fewer crowds than peak season. It truly makes for a more relaxed and immersive travel experience. I can't recommend it enough!
