My Outfit Formula

I use Sunday as a reset day. I make sure that all of my outfits for the week are ready to go. To make my life easier I use a little outfit formula to add some variety to each day and make planning my outfits simple.

Don’t mind the wrinkled clothes… That’s another day’s problem.

That’s why discovering my own flexible outfit formula has been an absolute game-changer, not just for saving time but also for feeling put-together and confident all week long. It’s like having a personal stylist in my closet! My secret weapon is definitely dedicating a bit of time on Sunday for an "outfit reset." It’s not about spending hours, but about making deliberate choices that set me up for success. I start by checking my calendar for the week – any special meetings? Casual days? What’s the weather forecast looking like? This helps me mentally categorize the types of outfits I’ll need. Then, I dive into my wardrobe, thinking about versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched. My personal formula often revolves around a few key categories, similar to what you might see in those handy checklists. For bottoms, I rotate between comfortable jeans (a staple!), smart dress pants for more professional days, and even athletic pants or sweatpants for those super casual moments or days working from home. For tops, I love having a good selection of basic tees in neutral colors, plus a few fun graphic tees like the "Be a Nice Human" one I adore. They're perfect for adding a touch of personality without overthinking. The real magic happens with layering! A denim vest can instantly elevate a simple ribbed tank top and jeans combo, giving it a cool, casual vibe. And for days when I need to look a bit more polished, a beige sleeveless blazer transforms a black top and light wash jeans into a chic ensemble. Even pairing a classic white t-shirt with navy pinstripe dress pants and adding a blazer makes for an effortlessly professional look. I find it incredibly helpful to physically lay out or even hang the full outfits together for each day. This way, when Monday morning hits, there’s zero decision fatigue. I just grab and go! If, like me, you sometimes end up with wrinkled clothes, a quick steam or toss in the dryer with a damp cloth can save the day – no need to stress about it on Sunday! This system isn't rigid; it's a flexible guide. Some days, I might opt for a skirt and top, or even a dress. The goal is to simplify, not complicate. By having these pre-planned combinations, I not only save precious morning minutes but also ensure I’m utilizing more of my wardrobe. It’s amazing how a simple formula can make getting dressed feel less like a chore and more like an enjoyable part of my day. Give it a try, and you might just find your own stress-free style secret!
