Dairy Free Spanish Latte
I absolutely love making Spanish lattes! The original recipe uses regular sweetened condensed milk, milk, and espresso. You can add cocoa or cinnamon as well. I personally prefer it with cacao powder dusted in top!
Well I found this sweetened condensed coconut milk and was inspired to make a dairy free Spanish latte. It was very delicious! All I did was swap out the sweetened condensed milk for sweetened condensed coconut milk and regular milk for oat milk.
Ingredients
1-2 tbsp sweetened condensed coconut milk
2 shots espresso
3-4 oz frothed barista oat milk (barista version will froth up nicely, but it’s okay to use regular if that’s all you have)
Ice
Directions
1. Combine 1-2 tbsp sweetened condensed coconut milk with 2 shots fresh espresso in a glass.
2. Mix with a handheld frother til well combined.
3. Pour ice into the glass.
4. Froth with a handheld frother in a seperate glass 3 oz of oat milk.
5. Pour frothed oat milk into the glass.
6. Sift cacao or cocoa powder on top.
Enjoy!

Finding delicious dairy-free alternatives for my favorite coffee shop drinks has been a game-changer! While I adore the classic Spanish latte, my body doesn't always agree with traditional dairy. That's why discovering sweetened condensed coconut milk was a revelation for making a truly satisfying vegan Spanish latte right in my own kitchen. When you're aiming for that authentic, rich Spanish latte experience without dairy, the choice of your ingredients truly matters. The sweetened condensed coconut milk is the star here. Unlike regular condensed milk, it offers a subtle tropical hint that complements the coffee beautifully, and its thick, creamy texture is essential for that signature sweetness and body. I've found that different brands can vary in consistency, so don't be afraid to experiment to find one that gives you the perfect uniform brown mixture when combined with espresso. Look for brands specifically labeled for desserts or coffee, as they tend to have the best texture and sweetness for this recipe. If you're wondering how to make a Spanish latte without any condensed milk, you could try a blend of coconut cream and a natural sweetener like maple syrup, but it won't quite replicate the unique richness that condensed coconut milk brings. Next up, the barista oat milk is crucial for achieving that lovely, frothy top. While any oat milk will work, the barista versions are specifically formulated to froth up nicely, giving you those distinct layers that make an iced spanish latte aesthetic glass truly Instagram-worthy. I personally love how oat milk's creamy texture and neutral flavor don't overpower the coffee, letting the nuanced flavors of the espresso and coconut shine through. If you're looking for a healthy spanish latte option, oat milk is often a great choice due to its fiber content and naturally sweet profile, reducing the need for excessive added sugars. For those who love to customize, don't stop at just cacao powder! You can experiment with a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom for a warmer spice note, or even a drop of vanilla extract for extra sweetness. This recipe is also incredibly versatile for different seasons. While this iced spanish latte is perfect for warmer days, you can easily adapt it for a cozy hot drink by simply warming your frothed oat milk instead of pouring it over ice. Just ensure your coffee is hot before mixing with the condensed coconut milk. Getting those perfect layers in your spanish latte glass aesthetic is all about technique: gently pour the frothed milk over the back of a spoon held just above the coffee for a beautiful separation of layers. It takes a little practice, but it's so rewarding! Making this coconut spanish latte at home is not only incredibly satisfying but also a fantastic way to save money compared to buying them at a cafe. Plus, you have complete control over the ingredients, ensuring it's always exactly to your taste, whether you like it sweeter or with a stronger coffee kick. It's become a staple in my morning routine, and I hope it becomes one in yours too!
