Homemade Cashew Milk

Homemade Cashew Milk

One thing I’ve been trying to do more is make my own homemade plant based milks. My favorite so far is cashew milk. It has the perfect creaminess for iced coffee and tea! It’s so simple and only a few ingredients!

I’m using a Nutr machine to make the milk but you can also make it with just a high speed blender and a cheese cloth or nut milk bag. If using a high speed blender you can make an even larger batch!

Ingredients

1 cup of water

3-4 tbsp cashews

1 date

1 pinch of salt

1 splash of vanilla extract

Directions

1. Optional but recommend: soak cashews for 4 hours prior to making milk. Can also soak cashews in hot water for 15 mins in a pinch of time.

2. Combine all ingredients in your Nutr machine or high speed blender.

3. Blend on Nutr room temp setting or if using high speed blender blend for 1 minute.

4. Strain mixture through Nutr strainer or cheese cloth or nut milk bag. If using cheese cloth or nut milk bag ensure you squeeze the bag removing all the milk.

5. Keep in fridge if not using immediately. Should last a week or so.

Filled with healthy fats and protein, cashew milk serves as a great alternative for those looking to avoid dairy in their diets. To enhance the flavor profile, consider experimenting with add-ins like cacao powder for a chocolate twist or cinnamon for warmth. When making your cashew milk, soaking the cashews is essential; not only does it soften them for blending, but it also helps to eliminate any bitter taste. This process can be tailored to your time constraints—soaking overnight yields the best results, while a brief soak in hot water can suffice in a pinch. For those who prefer a zero-waste approach, leftover cashew pulp can be repurposed in smoothies, oatmeal, or homemade granola. Incorporating homemade cashew milk into your daily diet is an easy way to boost your nutrition. It's ideal for coffee, tea, and smoothies, providing a deliciously creamy texture without the added sugars and preservatives found in store-bought options. Plus, you can customize the sweetness and flavor to your liking—just add a pinch of salt or a splash of vanilla extract to enhance the taste. Experiment with varying cashew amounts and water ratios to find the perfect consistency that suits your preferences. Overall, making your own cashew milk is an excellent step towards a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle.
